Geovante Crawford currently serves Principal Fellow and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at for Uncommon Schools in Brooklyn, New York. Geovante is a native of Richmond, VA, and he attended the illustrious Hampton University where he earned his Bachelor's of Science in Biology on the pre-med track and his Master's of Science in Biology. Geovante also graduated from Relay Graduate School of Education with his Master's of Arts in Teaching with a Concentration in Adolescents Biology Grades (7-12). A former college professor at Virginia Union University, a Historically Black College and University, he realized he had a passion for teaching students of color.
As an advocate for Black and Brown students, much of his mission is to dismantle oppressive systems in marginalized groups of people. With Geovante’s student centered-focus, he believes in putting students first, creating equitable environments that address students’ needs and empowering them to use their voices.
In extension of his professional and academic experience, Geovante is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, and actively serves as a leader in his church.
In his leisure time, Geovante enjoys working out in the gym, traveling, cooking and spending time with his chocolate Pitt, Luke.
